Ryanair flight

Did you ever wonder whether you were meant to be a traveler?

Some people just happen to know, but if you are not one of them, don’t worry. Here are signs that you might have been born to travel after all and you might have just not discovered this desire of yours yet.

Everyday life

  • You can make friends everywhere. You can also let them go, knowing that you may or may not see them again, ever
  • You are also perfectly fine just being by yourself
  • You can ask for “One beer, please” in far too many languages
  • You tend to ask your friends “Where are you” rather than “How are you” if chatting via internet
  • You signed up for various carpooling / house sharing websites (Couchsurfing, Airbnb, BlablaCar, Hitchwiki..)
  • It’s fairly difficult for you to understand why would anyone be willing to live without a passport
  • If someone asks “Where do you want to go next?”, you simply cannot choose just one destination
  • You tend to start most of your stories with “When I was in…”
  • You have multiple types of currency in your wallet, just in case, at all times
  • You have an absurdly long bucket list of places to visit and you keep adding to it
  • You check for special offers with various airlines randomly

On the go

  • You’ve developed your own packing strategy and you tend to share it with others, if given such a chance. Because your way is just much easier/quicker/more effective! It’s like the ultimate Tetris skill
  • You have your own airport security strategies
  • You would likely take the longer/worse route as long as you had a good company or it would lead you via interesting area
  • During your life you’ve spent countless days and nights in bus terminals, train stations, ferrys and airports. Or outside of them, if you were unlucky enough and they were closed for the night

Delayed flight to Portugal. Five sweet hours on the airport. I was still happy, since it was the only flight not cancelled to that location.

  • You use all of your “Frequent customer” saver cards while purchasing your travel tickets proudly
  • You most likely know all the airlines’ weight limits by heart. And luggage sizes
  • You are planning your next trip (or two) before you’ve even finished the one you’re currently on

Home decorating

  • You are certain that any kind of a world map makes the best wall decor

World map of the places visited

  • At some point you were considering buying multiple wall clocks and setting their timezones to match those of your favorite cities
  • You insist on keeping that (horribly torn) handmade rug, because you brought it from the trip to Morocco ten years ago
  • Your kitchen drawer is full of exotic spices you once tasted and loved while abroad. You may have no idea on how to use them, yet they are there if needed.
  • You have that heavily dust covered  bowl absolutely full of little stones and shells you brought home over the years, you have no idea which piece comes from where but “someday” you will find out and sort them. At least that’s what you keep telling yourself. And whoever dares to ask.

One day I’m going to sort you, my precious

Sounds familiar? There you go. You’ve found your destiny!
